01 · The floor you chose

Slip-resistant safety vinyl, smooth to bare feet

The sample you liked is a commercial safety vinyl. The clear beads are quartz aggregate carried inside the wear layer itself, so the floor feels smooth underfoot but still grips when soaking wet. It is the standard specification for sports club wet areas, and it ends the repaint-every-two-years cycle for good.

Safety vinyl sample with quartz aggregate
Your sample · equivalent to Polysafe, Altro & Tarasafe ranges
Wet-zone slip rating
PTV 36+ wet / R11-R12 in the showers, where it matters most.
Seamless and welded
Sheet vinyl with hot-welded joints. No grout lines, nowhere for water or mud to sit.
Coved 100mm skirting
The floor turns up the wall, so wash-downs are quick and nothing collects in corners.
Built for boots
Heavy-duty wear layer specified for stud traffic in the changing areas and corridor.
02 · How we install it

Overlay, not rip-out

We go over the existing floor rather than breaking out tiles. It is faster, cleaner and cheaper, with no skips of waste through your building, and it is how we hit your mid-September deadline.

01

Survey & prep

Every tile tap-tested; any loose or hollow spots made good first.

02

Prime

Acrylic primer keyed to the existing non-porous surface.

03

Level

3-5mm fibre-reinforced levelling screed, preserving falls to the drains.

04

Bond

Two-part PU adhesive in wet areas. No shortcuts on the glue.

05

Finish

Safety vinyl laid, joints welded, 100mm coved skirting throughout.

Cutaway of the overlay floor assembly

The overlay assembly

What actually goes down, layer by layer: your existing tiles stay put, then primer, a fibre-reinforced self-levelling screed, two-part PU adhesive, and the safety vinyl itself turning up the wall into the coved skirting. One sealed, watertight assembly with no joints for water to find.

03 · The works, phase by phase

The whole building, in three phases

We have structured the programme so the committee can commit in stages. Phase 1 is the wet areas - every shower floor in the building - because those are the floors that are failing and the ones to finish before the season starts. Phase 2 is the dry areas: all six changing rooms and the downstairs corridor. Phase 3 completes the building: the entrance foyer, the upstairs corridor and the staircase. Each phase stands on its own price, so you can approve them together or one at a time - and if the club confirms all three together, 5% comes off the whole programme.

Measured floor plan of the changing block, colour-coded by phase
The measured plan. Every room tape-measured on site on 23 July, colour-coded by phase: blue for the wet areas (Phase 1), green for the changing rooms and corridor (Phase 2), amber for the foyer, upstairs corridor and stairs (Phase 3). Not to scale - the dimensions govern.

These are indicative visualisations built from the photographs taken on site on 23 July, showing the safety vinyl you selected plus the light grey and black decoration scheme you described. Final colours are chosen from the manufacturer's range before we order.

Phase 1 · The wet areas

Every shower floor in the building

Main shower, large shower & both referees' shower areas · 44.8 m²
from £7,126to £9,489 by specification · ex VAT

The floors you asked us to fix first, done first - and the part of the building you told us nobody else would quote. The main shower room, the large shower room and the shower areas in both referees' rooms: red quarry tile overlaid with wet-rated safety vinyl, coved at the walls, falls to drain preserved. Complete before the season starts.

Phase 2 · The dry areas

Changing rooms 1-6 & downstairs corridor

All six changing rooms plus the connecting corridor · 138.9 m²
from £8,502to £11,263 by specification · ex VAT

Every changing room in the building - rooms 1 to 6 - plus the connecting corridor, in heavy-duty safety vinyl rated for stud traffic. We work room by room so the club stays open throughout. The visuals below also show the decoration scheme you mentioned - light grey walls with black benches and fittings - which we can deliver or project-manage alongside the flooring.

Phase 3 · Completing the building

Foyer, upstairs corridor & stairs

Foyer 21.3 m² · upstairs corridor ≈25 m² · stairs ≈14 treads · 70.8 m² in all
from £5,193to £6,873 by specification · ex VAT

The floors that link everything together: the L-shaped entrance foyer, the upstairs corridor and the dog-leg staircase, finished with proper contrasting nosings on every tread. The upstairs corridor area and final tread count are confirmed at measure-up before we order. Separately, you told us the compressor push-button showers are a constant maintenance headache - we will quote for replacing them with self-regulating showers like the ones in the referees' and ladies' rooms: consistent hot water, proper pressure, water that actually lands on the player. We can also project-manage the wall painting and club artwork as part of the same programme.

04 · The numbers
